Collection and storage of personal data as well as type and purpose and their use
The term "personal data" means all data that can be related to you personally. This includes, for example, name, address, e-mail addresses, IP address.

Log files
Each time a user accesses the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities' website and each time a file is retrieved, data about this process is temporarily stored and processed in a log file for technical reasons:

  • the IP address (this is anonymized immediately after access),
  • date and time,
  • accessed page/name of the accessed file,
  • volume of data transferred,
  • message whether the access/retrieval was successful.

The purpose of the data collection is the mandatory protection against attacks of the network, the improvement of the offer and the creation of usage statistics. This data is stored for one week.
The legal basis for the data processing is Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. b DSGVO (necessity for the protection of legitimate interests).

Cookies
When accessing individual pages, so-called temporary cookies are used to facilitate navigation. These session cookies do not contain any personal data and expire after the session.

Disclosure of data to third parties
A transmission of your personal data to third parties does not take place. No automated decision-making or profiling takes place. It is not foreseen that the data will be processed for any other purposes than those mentioned.

Data subject rights
You have the following rights with respect to the personal data concerning you:

  • in accordance with Art. 15 DSGVO to request information about your personal data processed by us,
  • in accordance with Art. 16 DSGVO to immediately demand the correction of incorrect or completion of your personal data stored by us,
  • in accordance with Art. 17 DSGVO to request the deletion of your personal data stored by us (except in the cases specified in Art. 17 (3) DSGVO),
  • in accordance with Art. 18 DSGVO to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data, insofar as the accuracy of the data is disputed by you, the processing is unlawful, but you object to its erasure and we no longer need the data, but you need it for the assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims or you have objected to the processing in accordance with Art. 21 DSGVO,
  • in accordance with Art. 77 DSGVO to complain to a supervisory authority. As a rule, you can contact the supervisory authority of your usual place of residence or our location for this purpose.

Right of objection
Since your personal data is processed on the basis of legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6 (1) p. 1 lit. f DSGVO, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data pursuant to Art. 21 DSGVO, provided that there are grounds for doing so that arise from your particular situation. This website uses Matomo (formerly Piwik), an open source software for statistical analysis of visitor traffic. Matomo uses "cookies", which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is stored on a server of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences in Germany. The IP address is anonymized immediately after processing and before it is stored.
